PNSCA at Woodburn June 11th and 12th

Weather forecast looks good with temperatures in the 70′s. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your skills for the upcoming D6 race in Spokane. We are hopeful that the turnout will be similar to the recent Pacific event that had 27 and 28 cars.

NHRA S/C Technical Note: New roll-cage padding rule now in effect
As a reminder to all racers, a new roll-cage padding rule goes into effect June 1, 2011. In the 2011 NHRA Rulebook on page 5 of the E.T. Section 4A and in the General Regulations Section 20, page 20 it states “ Beginning June 1, 2011, roll-cage padding meeting SFI Spec 45.1 mandatory on any vehicle running 9.99 (6.39 1/8-mile) and quicker. Padding must be used anywhere driver’s helmet may come in contact with roll-cage components.” (From www.nhradiv6.com)

PNSCA Race at Pacific Raceways on June 4th and 5th

PNSCA Racers can enter into the National Dragster Challenge on Saturday and the ET Bracket Race on Sunday if they choose or they can choose only to enter the PNSCA events those days. FOUR RACES in TWO DAYS!! For racers only wishing to enter the PNSCA events it is $50 for the weekend, if they would like to run the National Dragster Challenge event and/or ET Race they would have to pay another $30 a day to run super pro. Yes we do have a TNT scheduled for the Friday night before and you will be able to come in and park that night also. As for start times, I want to start time trials/qualifying at 9:15 to 9:30 each morning. Everybody will get 2 hits and then go into Eliminations that should put start time for eliminations around 12 to 12:30 I would assume.

If you have any other questions let me know.

Jason Murray – jjmurray@pacificraceways.com

Additional Information: Friday Test and Tune gates open at 4:30 pm. Recent TNT’s have drawn large turn outs, so get there early. Saturday and Sunday gates open at 7:30 am. Saturday’s  race is sponsored by “PAUL”! Sunday’s race is sponsored by “STACI”! PNSCA thanks both of them for their support!!!

Rain Finally Wins in Bremerton

Ed Hauter Eyes the Skies

The second day of the PNSCA opening weekend had a better turnout, but less luck with the weather.  When the day was done, Ed Hauter and Don Sefton split the prize (and the trophy?) finally giving into the rain.

A better forecast brought out three more racers, doubling the Saturday field.  But with all the emphasis on the fun of racing the 1/8th mile, it was still a light turnout.  Where were all you forum denizens who insisted that the change would make for crowds at the gate?

Nonetheless, it was a fun weekend, and Don Sefton certainly put his mark on the new PNSCA season with two final round appearances.  The PNSCA title chance will resume on May 21&22 at Woodburn Dragstrip.  Hope to see everyone there!

Threat of Rain Doesn’t Dampen Sefton

Don Sefton and Crew

On-again-off-again rain didn’t seem to harm Don Sefton’s concentration on his way to the winner’s circle in the first race of the PNSCA 2011 season.  Don missed the first qualifying session due to work, but still managed to qualify #1 at the first 1/8th mile contest in the PNSCA’s recent history.  Notching a clean 5.75, he grabbed the top spot in just one pass and earned his way into the final.  There he defeated Greg Pessemier to take the trophy.

After a lot of rain overnight that chased many participants away, the day turned out to be beautiful and a great opener to the season.  With all the input from racers far and wide to run 1/8th mile, we need a much stronger turnout to make it a success.  Please take advantage of the much better forecast for Sunday to join us at the track!

Season Opener to Be 1/8th Mile Action

Ready to Race?

Following a great deal of discussion with input from across the Pacific Northwest, the PNSCA has decided to make the season opening weekend at Bremerton a race to the 1/8th mile.  Ed Hauter, PNSCA President, put it this way: “We had a number of people who enjoy 1/8th mile racing, for example at Portland, and asked if we would consider it for a PNSCA race.  We hope that this change will get more people off the couch and out to race with us!”

This is just a change for the first race weekend at Bremerton in May.  A decision on other races, such as the August race in Bremerton, will depend on how successful this opener is.

So dust off those cobwebs, get that car off the jackstands and get out to Bremerton for some great PNSCA racing.  See you there!

Two More Weeks for Sponsorship Race

The PNSCA Race for Sponsors program, which is your chance to win free racing, is nearing the finish line.  Two weeks from today is the deadline, and we need all the sponsors we can get.  We have had a number of new and returning sponsor brought in, and we’re pleased with the results so far.  But we need one more push to the finish line.  So get out there and sell those sponsorships!

Get Sponsors, Race for Free

PNSCA needs more sponsors, and we need you to help find them.  So we’ve developed tools to help you.  Check out the sponsor information page at http://pnsca.com/sponsors/info for flyers, a list of former sponsors, and a sponsorship agreement.

But we know you need some incentive so we’ve created the first ever PNSCA Race for Sponsors Program.  Here’s how it works:

For every $10 of sponsorships you bring in, you get $1 worth of credit toward entry fees.  For example, for every $600 in signed agreements (and/or checks without an agreement) you bring in, you get a race entry for free.  Even though this example is supporting sponsorships, this applies for all our sponsorship levels: day sponsors, associate sponsors, even series sponsors.  This even works for you.  If you do nothing but contribute $300 for yourself, you get $30 off a race.

And, as an added bonus, the person with the most sponsorship dollars also gets a race for free ($60 in entry fee credit), and a plaque at the banquet.  If there’s a tie, the winners split the entry credit.

All prizes have no cash value, they are good for entry fees only.  The contest is open until midnight the day taxes are due (April 18, 2011).  The maximum credits that can be applied in a single year is $300 (five races), unused credits carry over to the next year.  And if you’re wondering, no, the free entries won’t effect the payouts at the races.

All the materials you need to get sponsorships are at http://pnsca.com/sponsors/info.  If you need anything to help in your search for sponsors (such as the brochure in glossy printed form) send an email to sponsorship@pnsca.com.  We’re here to help.

Now go out there, get sponsors, and race for free.  If you get to the semis or better, it’s like getting free money!

2011 Event Calendar Posted

Racing Season is Coming

The 2011 PNSCA event calendar has been posted on our calendar page.  We’re pleased to have added a doubleheader race at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA to the schedule, and added a third doubleheader at Woodburn Dragstrip.

This year brings a new high water mark of 13 races scheduled.  The race series remains at a “best of 8″ format, so this allows racers to chase the championship and still miss 5 races throughout the year.  We at the PNSCA are happy to provide all these options for racers to race in the series.

Thanks for your support, see you out there this year!
