McKillop and Hrenko Take the Weekend Gold

Gorgeous weather, great racing, plenty of friends, and good food — does it get any better than this? This weekend’s Power Punch PNSCA series racing at Woodburn Dragstrip’s Rose Festival Drags was plenty of fun!

Saturday’s race was dominated by Emmett McKillop who marched through the field of 15 racers, taking out Greg Pessemier in the final for the win. The semi-finalists were Rick Dearinger and Marcia Miller.

Saturday evening, Chuck, Diana, and Debra Linne hosted a barbecue at their pit for the PNSCA family. It was a wonderful time, with a ton of great low-calorie food, and plenty of friendly chatter.  Thanks to the Linne’s for being such gracious hosts, for Dale Hrenko for manning the grill, and everyone for bringing all the great salads and desserts.

Sunday dawned with more great weather, and unfortunately two fewer racers, as Steve Iverson and Tom Bachand had car troubles and couldn’t participate.  The day was won by grill-master Dale Hrenko, taking out Ed Hauter in the final.  Making it to the semis were Emmett McKillop and recent returner to PNSCA action, Troy Ross.  Unfortunately Troy had engine trouble and couldn’t make the call for semis, giving Dale the competition bye into the finals.

With Dale’s Sunday win, and Power Punch Series points leader Tom Gresham’s round two exit, Dale pulls withing striking distance in the series standing.  This series is still anybody’s game, with plenty of racing yet to come.  Make your plans to get out there and join us for a race.
