Great Weekend of Racing at Pacific Raceways

Wonderful weather and the best turnout in quite a while made for a great weekend of racing at Pacific Raceways.

Saturday was a beautiful day, and there was a very healthy 20 car field.  Along with a great turnout of regulars, some new faces, and some long time PNSCA racers returned to the field to make an excellent day of racing.  It was great to see Mike Seekins, Mark Heritage, Dennis Kooker, and Paul Nowak back in the field, and we gladly welcomed new faces Tony Arthur and Tony Burton to the crowd.  At the end of the day it was a repeat of the Woodburn Saturday final with Dale Hrenko facing off against Chuck Linne, only this time Chuck got his revenge and the win light when it was Dale’s turn to miss the tree.  Complete Saturday results are here.

Sunday was another gorgeous day, and a solid 19 cars made the call.  There was some turnover in the field, but it was fun to welcome NHRA Division 6 Super Gas heavyweight Mike Ferderer to the field.  On Sunday, Paul Nowak turned the car over to his wife Staci and she proved worthy of the challenge, going into the finals against Dale Green.  Dale came up with the victory, and that boosted him to third place in the points.  Complete Sunday results are here.

The point race is heating up, you can check out the results here.  Dale Hrenko and Chuck Linne swapped the lead a couple of times, but a strong semi-final appearance on Sunday gave Dale the edge when the weekend was done.  Still, there is plenty of racing left in the year, and something tells me Dale Green and some long time PNSCA racers aren’t inclined to let anyone run away with the championship.

Our next race, the Mission race, has been cancelled as Mission struggles with the complete replacement of the track.  They are headed for their third (fourth?) complete lane tear up and re-pour and have cancelled the Open event that was to be the PNSCA host.  So that means the next PNSCA race is a long two months away: August 23rd in Bremerton.  Though it’s a long wait, we look forward to seeing everyone there.
