Wet Woodburn

We moved south to Woodburn for the next two races. The weather forecast was iffy, but nine racers braved the odds for the first race on Saturday.

Darrel Petitt, Diane Petitt, Dale Green, Mark Loftis, Dennis Boley, Mark Gillespie, Casey DePeel, Tom Bachand, and Dylan Hough decided to enter the race.

We got three qualifying passes and at the end, Diane Petitt was the number one racer, with an 8.901. Thanks to Snap-On Tools for the award. Delta Camshaft was the race sponsor.

Round one started with Darral Petitt taking out Green with a steller 8.902. Loftis used a great .007 light to beat a slowing Boley. DePeel used a holeshot to force a double break out win over Bachand. Diane Petitt got the single and Hough won when Gillespie was no show.

The racers pulled into the lanes for round two, but mother nature decided it was time to quit. Wind, rain, and lightening decided the evening was over. So, the five remaining racers split the purse and will receive second round points.

A small BBQ was held at Petitt’s pits after the rain finally slowed down to a mist.

Sunday started out with a not so promising outlook. This race was sponsored by Stroh’s Automotive. Darrel Petitt, Diane Petitt, Dale Green, Mark Loftis, Dennis Boley, Mark Gillespie, and Tom Bachand were entered to race.

The weather did not look promising and the temperature was not very high. A meeting was held, and the racers decided to not race. So, the event was cancelled, and the seven racers will get the attendance points. The sponsor money will be held until the next race at Woodburn.

Next race is at Renegade Raceway on May 25 and 26.
