Bremerton Summer Race

Race 10 and 11 at Bremerton Raceway, on July 20 and 21.

We had fifteen racers show up to battle for points.

Brian Schmanke, Chuck Linne, Darrel Petitt, Diane Petitt, Dale Green, Emmett McKillop, Greg Linne, John Collecchi, Mark Loftis, Mark Gillespie, Dave Secondi, Dave Thornton, Tony Arthur, Derek McMasters, and Wade Archer were present and accounted for.

The first qualifying session ended with Greg Linne setting the bar at 5.708.  He was looking for that all important first round bye. The second session came around and Mark Loftis gave it a shot, but only went 5.709 and that gave Greg the #1 spot. Thanks to Snap-On Tools for the award. The race sponsor was Gilbertsen Enterprises, LLC.

First round found G Linne on the bye, running a 5.703. Archer then took out C Linne on a double break out race. Gillespie won when Diane Petitt went red first. McKillop then ran closer to the index to beat Green. Thornton had the hole shot on Arthur but slowed. Arthur went to quick to allow Thornton the win. Schmanke used a hole shot to take out Secondi, McMasters used a hole shot to force Darrell Petitt to break out, and Collecchi overcame a double break out to beat Loftis.  After first round, the top five points leaders were out.

Round two found Thornton and Archer in a great battle. Thornton had a slightly better light and at the finish line ran a 5.709 to beat Archer’s 5.707. Gillespie got handed a gift when Schmanke turned on the red light. McKillop won when Collecchi went to quick, and G Linne used a .001 light to force McMasters to break out.

The semi final round found G Linne sending Thornton to the trailer and Gillespie got around McKillop using a better light.

Final round time. G Linne and Gillespie squared up. Linne had the better light, Gillespie broke out and the win went to Greg Linne. Good thing he won, the car owner, Debra Linne, was there from the Midwest to watch. Way to go Greg. Thanks to the Gilbertsen Enterprises, LLC for the race sponsorship.

Bremerton Raceway posted an award for the Best Losing Package, which was won by Dale Green.

There was an awards ceremony and dinner at the Petitt pit area. Thanks to them for hosting.
