Renegade Racing

Memorial Day weekend. Time to reflect on the sacrifices the men and women of the military made for our freedom. This weekend is to honor the sailors, solders, marines, and airmen who gave the ultimate sacrifice – their lives. United States of America – Land of the Free because of the Few.

So on to the race action at Renegade Raceway. Sixteen Super Comp racers made the trip over the mountain. Chuck Linne, Cooper Chun, Darral Petitt, Dave Secondi, Dave Thornton, Diane Petitt, Emmett McKillop, Greg Linne, Jiovanni Collecchi, John Collecchi, John Theofelis, Mark Gillespie, Mark Hentges, Tom Bachand, Tony Arthur, and Dan Davis were present. We started racing at 11:00am, well the other classes started at 11:00am. Our first qualifying session was at 2:15pm and Tony Arthur went 5.708. Then we had another session at 5:24pm and nobody got around tony for the #1 spot. Thanks to Snap On Tools for the #1 award. The Dalrymple Family was the event sponsor.

Somewhere around 8:00pm or later we started first round. Mark H got the win over Chuck. Then Mark G was a winner when Tony went red. Diane used a .008 light to defeat John C. Tom went 5.703 to take out Darral. Greg L went 5.705to force Dave T to break out. Dave S got the win because Jiovanni went red. Dan used a holeshot to stay ahead of John T. Emmett then forced Cooper to break out.

A couple of hours later – round two. Mark G moved to the semis by a holeshot win over Tom. Mark H paired with Emmett and 5.697 seconds later was the winner because Emmett went 5.696. Dave S used a .009 light to beat Diane. Then Greg L used a .001 light to beat Dan.

It is getting later and later. Finally, round three. Mark Hentges won because Mark G missed the finish line and broke out. Dave S moved to the final when Greg L broke out.

We got the finalists back quickly and Mark H went .011 – 5.705 to beat Dave S, who was .018 – 5.720. Good win for Mark Hentges. Thanks again to Snap On Tools and the Dalrymple Family for the prizes.

Ok, lets move to Sunday. Things started earlier and we only got one qualifying pass. The same sixteen racers were there. Chuck Linne, Cooper Chun, Darral Petitt, Dave Secondi, Dave Thornton, Diane Petitt, Emmett McKillop, Greg Linne, Jiovanni Collecchi, John Collecchi, John Theofelis, Mark Gillespie, Mark Hentges, Tom Bachand, Tony Arthur, and Dan Davis. After the qualifying, Tony was on top again, this time with a 5.701. Snap On Tools sponsored the #1 prize and FBN Racing was the event sponsor.

Round one was called to the lanes. Mark H continued to win rounds by beating John C. Then Darral used a better light to force Tom to break out more. Jiovanni got around Diane via a holeshot win. Tony moved on when Cooper went red by .005. Dan used a better light to force Chuck to break out. Mark G was the winner due to Dave T being slightly late. Greg L won over John T red light. Emmett and Dave S staged up, but Dave rolled through the beams, giving the win to Emmett.

In round two, we found Darral taking on Mark H. Darral was .001 on the tree and forced Mark H to break out. Then Emmett was the winner when something happened to Tony’s car, and he had to lift. Greg L went 5.707 to beat Dan. Then Jiovanni got around Mark G.

Semi final round. Greg L used a slightly better light to beat Emmett. In the other half, Darral stayed just ahead of Jiovanni for the win.

Moving into the final round. Around 7:30 or so. Darral went 5.709 to beat Greg L and his 5.721.

The next race is at the National Open at Bremerton Raceway on June 19 and 20. Remember the gate fee is $100 per day, because this is also a Wally race. There will be a potluck that Saturday. It is an 1/8-mile race.
