We had Two Busy to Cook, provide the delicious meal. Lots of racing bs was discussed, and everyone won a great door prize. A big thank you to the sponsors who donated the door prizes – Westbay Auto Parts, Snap-On Tools, Honest Performance, Designs Unlimited, K&N Filters, DG Machine, A-1 Performance, Bremerton Raceway, FBN Racing, and Spring Fling Million.

Pacific Results

Time for the Super Comp Association to invade Pacific Raceways in Kent for the fifth race of the year.  The race was sponsored by C&C Olympic Heating. Two intense rounds of qualifying.  Thirteen racers tried, but Arlyn Staiger got the 8.901 first to be #1.  Snap On tools provided the #1 Qualifier Award.

Arlyn Staiger, Dale Green, Darral Petitt, David Thornton, Emmett McKillop, Josh Schmanke, Mark Gillespie, Greg Pessemier, Mark Johnson, Tony Arthur, Ty Anderson, and John Theofelis bought in to the Association race.

The racers were called to the lanes for round one. They all showed up and Staiger was in front ready for his bye run.  Alas, that pesky bad luck stuff happened and he could not get the car to start. Bad Deal for Arlyn. Pessemier had Green, a repeat from Yakima and Pessemier prevailed again due to Green turning on the red lite. McKillop had an exciting race against Arthur, with McKillop on top, 8.910 to 8.917.  Anderson had a great lite against Petitt, then slowed to allow Petitt to turn on the win lite. Wilcox won against Thornton. Schmanke was closer than Gillespie on a double breakout – 8.897 to 8.852. And Theofelis won when Johnson was a no show.

Round two started with Schmanke using a .009 to force Pessemier to break out. Petitt had the bye. Then McKillop had a single due to Staiger not making first round. Wilcox beat Theofelis.

In the semi’s, Pettit beat a red lite from Wilcox.  Then McKillop used a huge holeshot to beat Schmanke.

The final.  McKillop against Petitt. McKillop had a .025 lite to Petitt’s .019. At the finish line, McKillop with a 8.902 to the 8.910 of Petitt.  McKillop with the win. Thanks to C&C Olympic Heating for their sponsorship. Congrats to Emmett McKillop.

Our next race is July 1 & 2 at Bremerton Raceway.  A BBQ Saturday evening, we provide hot dogs and hamburgers and you bring a side dish.

Designs Unlimited came with a new design for the T-shirts. Get yours before they are gone.  The price is $15 a shirt, with the money going to the prize fund.

Banquet Report and 2017 Schedule

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and the New Year is starting out great!!!!

The Pacific Northwest Super Comp Association Banquet was held January 21, 2017.  It was at the Shilo Inn in Tacoma.  Everyone who attended had a good time, lots of racing bs was discussed, and everyone won a great door prize.  A big thank you to the sponsors who donated the door prizes – Westbay Auto Parts, Snap-On Tools, Honest Performance, Designs Unlimited, K&N Filters, DG Machine, A-1 Performance, J Bond & Sons, Seeitimagery, and Spring Fling Million.

We had a general meeting at 5:00 pm.  We discussed the 2016 season, the upcoming season, current rules and other things.  The rules will not change for 2017.  Everyone seemed happy about the 2016 season.

One thing that will happen is the addition of Super Street to our races.  I had a meeting with about 25 SST racers prior to our meeting, and there was a positive feeling about adding SST to the schedule.  The SST racers will find their own sponsors, pay their own fees, but will be a part on our group.  They will race the same dates and racetracks as us.  Welcome aboard SST racers.

We have 13 races again this year and 10 will count for the championship.

May 20/21 – Woodburn Dragstrip
May 27/28 – Renegade Raceway

Dale Green wins the Championship

The final race of the season – – again. The setting – – Woodburn Dragstrip. The stakes – – year end championship.

Once again the Super Comp Association descended on Woodburn Dragstrip to do battle. Friday was kind of weird day, sunny but dark clouds in the west. Saturday morning (early) it rained, but by 9 am the sun was out and the track was ready. Six racers signed up for the event. Greg Pessemier, Dennis Boley, Dale Green, Tom Gresham, Devon Hilton, and Ross Souza. Qualifying took place and then first round. Greg Pessemier, Dale Green, and Tom Gresham got the win light first round. Greg got the bye into the final and Tom took out Dale. They had identical reaction times, but Tom ran closer – 8.946 to a 8.965 to advance to the final. Then it got dark. There were so many oil downs and other things; that we ran out of daylight. So, the plan was to do the final on Sunday. Sunday came and during the second qualifying run, Tom and Greg did battle. Tom came out on top and took the points lead. But wait, Sunday’s race was still to come. Dale had a chance.

Sunday’s race had the same six racers. Tom had a chance to lock up the season first round because he had to run Dale. But Dale managed to take Tom out with an 8.907 to an 8.892. Tom had the better light, but broke out. Bummer for Tom. Tom still had a chance to hold on to his lead. In other first round action Dennis lost to Ross and Devon lost to Greg. Dale had the bye in the Semi’s and Greg ran closer to the number to take out Ross. So, on to the final. All Dale had to do was win the race to win the championship. Tom was hoping Greg would win, I am sure. After a bunch more oil downs and stuff, the final two came to the line. The sun was setting in the west as they staged. Dale got the holeshot .019 to .034 and managed to stay ahead of Greg, running an 8.920 to an 8.910. So 2015 season came to a close. Dale Green wins it all again.

I want to take this time to thank all of our sponsors and hope to see them come back next year. Also, I want thank all the racer input and help during the year. A special thanks to Mark Gillespie for his help as the Vice President. We hope to have better things for 2016.

I am currently planning on having the 2015 Awards Banquet January 16, 2016.

Pacific Race 8

On Friday, August 14 the Seattle weather did not look to good for racing on the next day. But, come Saturday morning the rain had stopped and there was a light cloud cover. Super Comp racers came to Pacific Raceways by the dozen. This was the eighth race for the Pacific Northwest Super Comp Association. The racers were: Tory Lea, Emmett McKillop, Mark Gillespie, Dale Hrenko, Tim Petitt, Mark Johnson, Randy Beck, Greg Pessemier, Tony Burton, Marion Hurst, Tom Gresham, and Darral Petitt were the dozen gunning for the gold. Welcome aboard Tory Lea, Marion Hurst, and Tony Burton.

Track conditions were great, thanks to the team effect of the Pacific Raceways crew.

Tory Lea grabbed the low qualifier spot with a 8.903, just edging out Emmet McKillop. On the top half of the ladder, Darral started his road to the final with a holeshot win over Mark Johnson. A triple zero light didn’t give Mark much room. Then Darral knocked out the #1 qualifier and then had to face the other Petitt in the semifinal. Meanwhile Randy Beck caught a break in round one, when his opponent was a no show. Then on a double breakout run, he was closer than Ed Hauter to take the win. Semis saw Randy and Tom Gresham battle it out. Identical .027 lights made for a steller race. Another double break out. 8.897 was .002 closer than Tom’s 8.895, putting Randy in the final. I did not get the final round stats, but Randy was the winner, and Darral the runner up.

Our final two races are August 29 and 30 at Woodburn Dragstrip. We will have a picnic at my trailer Saturday evening. Mark and I will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs. Please bring anything else you want.
